Despite a few technical snafus, my CAA session “My So Called Second Life” came together in a great way…much thanks to the participants–who were fabulous:
The first two panelists–Jessica Wyman and Kalia Brooks–provided a critical framework for Second Life, addressing the implications of its use from the standpoints of social interaction and performance. The next two presenters–Joseph DeLappe and Alyson Gill– discussed projects that bridge the real-world/in-world gap, from both artistic and art historical points of view. Finally, the last presenters–Hajoe Moderegger and Franziska Lamprecht, aka the eteam– tied it all together by talking about trash…they’ll discussed a socio-spatial interventionist project in which they built a public dumpster for Second Life.
